Gemfibrozil Shortage

The FDA reports that Teva Pharmaceuticals (1-800-545-8800) and Camber Pharmaceuticals (1-866-495-1995) are experiencing a gemfibrozil shortage due to demand increase. Teva and Camber are releasing product as it becomes available; Teva expects a sporadic backorder to continue through April 2010 while Camber estimates the backorder will continue through the end of March 2010. Pfizer (1-800-533-4535) is awaiting FDA approval for a change made to gemfibrozil and is currently working to address the shortage.
