Name Change Approved for Heartburn Drug

3/8/2010
The FDA has approved a name change for Takeda Pharmaceuticals’ heartburn drug Kapidex (dexlansoprazole) to Dexilant to avoid confusion with 2 other similar-sounding medications, Casodex (bicalutamide) and Kadian (morphine sulfate), that have different indications. The name change will become effective in late April 2010.
