New Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Approved

2/24/2010
The FDA has approved Gilead Sciences’ Cayston (aztreonam for inhalation solution), an inhaled antibiotic for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. Cayston is administered with the Altera Nebulizer System, a new device that allows patients to take the medicine in less than 5 minutes, reducing the burden of the typical treatment regimen that may take 3 to 4 hours per day. Gilead is launching a Cayston Access Program call center (1-877-722-9786) to assist patients and members of their care team with insurance verification, copay assistance, and claims support.
