Dermal Filler Gel with Lidocaine Approved

2/3/2010
The FDA has approved Allergan’s Juvederm XC (hyaluronic acid/lidocaine 0.3%) dermal filler to provide patients with additional comfort during the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm XC can potentially reduce the need for an additional anesthetic, should only be administered by a qualified medical practitioner who has been properly trained in Juvederm injection techniques, and is available for ordering nationwide.

The FDA has also approved Medicis’ Restylane-L and Perlane-L (hyaluronic acid/lidocaine 0.3%) gel (dermal fillers) for implantation into the mid to deep dermis, and deep dermis to superficial subcutis, respectively, to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. The medications are expected to be shipped soon. McKesson will serve as US distributor for both products.
